Hidradenitis suppurativa of scrotum and perineum.

چکیده
Well-formed hidradenitis suppurative is extremely resistant to conservative manageniek and at the same time can become incapacitating to the patient. Radical surgical excision ofthe diseased area and resurfacing can bring about rapid and dramatic improvement in such patients. Two severe cases of hfdradenitis of the perineal region are presented. Apocrinitis or hidradenitis is an inflammatory condition affecting the apocrine sweat glands. These tuboalveolar glands are normally found in the axilla, groin, perineum, and genital areas. Conway et al. l divided infections of the apocrine gland into two stages. First the early stage, when infection occurs as a bead of pus at the summit of the infected gland; and second a chronic stage, in which there are numerous interconnecting, deep, and tortuous sinus tracts. This latter stage is characterized by a brawny induration of the skin and numerous discharging sinuses.

A life-threatening multilocalized hidradenitis suppurativa case.
The patient was a 38-year-old man. He had been suffering from hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) for approximately 20 years. He had active lesions at both axillas, hip, scrotum, and perineum, and inactive lesions located behind the ears, lower abdomen, and posterior neck. He was monitored and treated at different branches; he continuously used antibiotics and was given steroids at times. Antibiotic ...
متن کاملAdvanced hidradenitis suppurativa. Review of surgical treatment in 23 patients.
Hidradenitis suppurativa of the apocrine sweat glands, described in 1839 by Velpeau [I], is a chronic disease characterized by painful recurrent abscesses, draining fistulas, and scarring in the axillae, groin, perineum, perirectal region, and other areas. Herein, we review our 15 year experience in treating advanced hidradenitis suppurativa to delineate the nature of the disease and to outline...

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic disease characterized by painful recurrent abscesses, fistulas and scarring lesions in axilla, groin, perineum and rarely mass lesions at the affected site. Here we present a case of hidradenitis suppurativa that presented as a polypoidal growth at the anal verge.
متن کاملMicrobial profile and antibiotic susceptibility of bacteria isolated from patients with hidradenitis suppurativa
Background: Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease of unknown etiology. There is evidence that bacteria may contribute to initiating the inflammatory response in HS patients. To date, data on bacteria found in HS lesions and their resistance rates are rare. Methods: The results of bacterial cultures and antibiotic susceptibility of the isolated bacteria obtained fr...
متن کاملAltered innate and adaptive immune responses in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa.
BACKGROUND The clinical improvement of hidradenitis suppurativa reported in a small number of patients with antitumour necrosis factor (anti-TNF)-alpha therapies supports the hypothesis for an altered immune response in these patients. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the state of the innate and adaptive immune responses in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa. METHODS Fifty-three patients and six ...
